How to Upload Your Listing Video to Zillow, the MLS, and Realtor.com

Ask three agents how to add a video to a Zillow listing and you will get three different answers, and all three might be right. Zillow, your MLS, and Realtor.com do not treat video the same way. On two of the three, the video that shows up on the public listing did not come from a direct upload at all, it came through the MLS feed behind the scenes. Here is exactly how each platform gets a video live, and the specific mistakes that get one silently rejected.
The Short Answer for Each Platform
Jump to the platform you need, or read straight through, since your MLS drives most of what happens on both Zillow and Realtor.com.
- Zillow: Add a Virtual Tour URL directly on the listing, let it sync in through your MLS feed, or, if you're on Zillow Showcase, have your photographer upload it through Aryeo.
- MLS: Paste an unbranded video or virtual tour link into your MLS listing's video field. This one field is what actually reaches Zillow and Realtor.com.
- Realtor.com: In most cases there's nothing to upload. It pulls the unbranded version from your MLS feed automatically. Some accounts also have a dashboard option to link a branded tour directly.
Zillow: Three Ways Video Gets Onto a Listing
Zillow does not have a single upload button that works the same way for every listing. Which path applies depends on whether the listing is on Zillow Showcase, whether your MLS supports video in its feed, and what your specific account has access to.
MLS Feed (works for almost every listing)
Paste an unbranded, hosted video link into your MLS listing's virtual tour or video field. Zillow reads that field as part of the listing feed and displays it on the public listing with no extra step on Zillow itself. This is the most reliable path because it works regardless of your Zillow account type, and it's the same field that feeds Realtor.com.
Virtual Tour URL on Zillow Directly
Editing a listing on Zillow exposes a Virtual Tour URL field where you can paste a hosted video link (an unlisted YouTube video or a Vimeo link both work) straight onto the listing page. This bypasses the MLS entirely, which is useful for For Sale By Owner listings or listings added outside your MLS sync window.
Zillow Showcase (paid, premium listings)
If the listing is on Zillow Showcase, video works differently. Your professional photographer uploads it through Zillow's Aryeo platform as part of your media delivery, not through a field you fill in yourself. From the listing editor, you select Edit carousel media, open the Videos tab, choose the uploaded video, and toggle Show video in carousel on.
- Maximum length: 120 seconds
- One video per listing
- Plays muted, as the second item in the media carousel
- No persistent agent or brokerage logos, watermarks, or ads allowed in the video itself
Some standard, non-Showcase accounts also show a native Add Video option in the listing editor. Zillow has been rolling this out unevenly across accounts, so if you don't see it, the MLS route above still works for every listing type. If you're starting from a Zillow listing link instead of downloaded photos in the first place, see how the Zillow listing video generator workflow pulls photos automatically before you ever reach the upload step. MLS: The Field That Actually Feeds Zillow and Realtor.com
Most MLS systems have a dedicated field for video or virtual tour, separate from your photo uploads, usually labeled something like Virtual Tour URL or Unbranded Video URL. Paste a hosted video link there rather than a raw file, and it flows out to Zillow, Realtor.com, and any other site your MLS syndicates to.
Field names and upload mechanics vary by MLS provider. Bright MLS, Stellar MLS, connectMLS, Doorify, and the rest each build their own listing input screens, so confirm the exact field and accepted format with your MLS's help center or your broker before your first upload.
The part that trips agents up: most MLS systems reject or strip branded video on the public syndication field. If your video opens with your logo, your headshot, or a phone number baked into the frame, it may get flagged or simply not display. Keep an unbranded cut for the MLS field, and save the branded version, the one with your name and number on it, for your own site and for Instagram Reels and TikTok.
Aspect ratio matters too. The safe default across MLS systems is horizontal, 16:9, MP4. For platform-specific specs beyond what's here, see our MLS video guide.
Realtor.com: Mostly Fed From the MLS, With One Direct Option
In most cases you don't upload to Realtor.com directly at all. It pulls the unbranded video or virtual tour link straight from the same MLS feed that reaches Zillow. Some agent and broker accounts also have a dashboard option to attach a branded video tour link separately from the MLS-fed version, but field names and menu paths vary by account type, so check your own listing management dashboard rather than assuming a specific click path.
Because the primary path is the MLS, the first place to check when a video is missing on Realtor.com is your MLS listing, not Realtor.com itself. Two things silently block it even when the video is sitting correctly in your MLS: the listing not being opted into broker distribution and syndication, and video media that doesn't meet Realtor.com's display requirements.

Aspect Ratio Cheat Sheet
One video file rarely works everywhere without adjustment. Match the ratio to where it's going.
- 16:9 (horizontal): MLS, Zillow, Realtor.com, YouTube
- 9:16 (vertical): Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts
- 1:1 (square): occasionally used on Facebook, rarely required elsewhere
HomeReel's Starter and Pro plans reframe a finished video to both 9:16 and 16:9 automatically, so you're not re-editing the same cut for the MLS versus for Reels.
Common Reasons Videos Get Rejected or Never Show Up
Most failures are not mysterious once you know what to check.
- Branded video in an unbranded field: a logo, headshot, or phone number baked into the video submitted through the MLS's public feed field. Most MLS systems strip it or refuse to display it.
- Wrong aspect ratio: a vertical 9:16 clip dropped into a field built for 16:9 often shows up cropped, letterboxed, or not at all.
- File too large or wrong format: where a platform accepts a direct file upload, oversized files or anything other than MP4 tend to fail without a clear error.
- Too long: Zillow Showcase caps video at 120 seconds. Longer cuts get rejected outright.
- Not opted into syndication: Realtor.com and Zillow only display what your MLS listing is set to distribute. If broker distribution isn't checked, the video, and sometimes the whole listing, won't sync.
- Mistaking processing time for failure: give it a chance to catch up first. Processing after upload commonly takes anywhere from a few minutes to about an hour depending on the platform, so check back before assuming something broke.
One unbranded, 16:9 video in your MLS's video field covers Zillow and Realtor.com in a single move.

The Bottom Line
Zillow, the MLS, and Realtor.com aren't three separate uploads. They're one field, your MLS's video or virtual tour field, feeding two platforms automatically, plus a couple of platform-specific extras like Zillow Showcase and Realtor.com's direct dashboard link. Get an unbranded, 16:9 MP4 into that MLS field first.
